SEMINARS

All seminars will be held at Craft Atlanta, and are complimentary for Christmas House guests.
Please present your ticket stub at the door. Space is limited and admittance is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Special Note: Christmas House guests may return to attend seminars on subsequent days
after they have toured the house. A ticket stub is required for admission to
seminars, but does not allow for re-admission to the home tour.

Christmas Themed Improvisational Acting Workshop with Greg Bosworth
For students of all ages. Greg has many years experience teaching musical theater performing arts camps in Annapolis, MD and is now a teaching artist with the Alliance Theater. He has a BFA in Musical Theater from Jacksonville University and when not teaching youngsters, he is a full-time performer with numerous community shows in Annapolis, MD, Oklahoma, Ragtime, Cosi fan Tutti, and Chess in college and is currently in Stone Mountain's Simply Christmas after being in the Atlanta premiere of Pageant: The Musical and the world premiere of Douglas Tappin's I Dream at the Alliance Theater.

“Holiday Side Dishes with Chef Kevin Maxey”
Learn how to wow your guests this season as Kevin Maxey, chef de cuisine of Tom Colicchio’s Craft Atlanta, guides Christmas House patrons through holiday side dishes. The Texas native was inspired to begin a career in the culinary arts by cooking shows on PBS, and he has shared his gastronomic prowess from California to New York. Kevin will treat guests to a lesson in the classical techniques for preparing vegetables and other side dishes that he uses on Craft Atlanta’s contemporary American menu.

Ginny McCormack is an Atlanta-based cooking instructor, speaker, food columnist, author of Sunday in the South, host of GinnyMcCormackCooks.com and editor of the online food magazine, Food Lover. She teaches and writes about the art of southern hospitality and new southern cuisine.

Designs Couture Clothing for Children will showcase a beautiful selection of handmade and hand-embroidered outfits for boys and girls, size 0-14. Designs for the holidays will be featured, along with portrait, flower girl and ring bearer ensembles ... as well as darling everyday items for all ages. Wilder’s custom and ready-to-wear lines are all made in the U.S. using only pure, sustainable fabrics.

Leo Barrera, General Manager of Tom Colicchio’s Craft Atlanta and Craftbar, is excited to share his wine expertise to visitors of the Christmas House. A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Leo implements his enthusiasm for wine as the beverage director of Craft and Craftbar. Join him to learn the ins and outs of holiday wines, including sparkling, fortified and dessert wines that will pair beautifully this season. Must be at least 21 years of age to attend

“Elegant Tables Made Easy and Affordable with designers Sherry Hart and Denise Rogness”
Eliminate dinner party stress by pulling together items found in your home, grocery store, back yard, and garage to give your table a sophisticated flare on a penny-pinching pocketbook. Before you eyes, you will see incredible tablescapes come to life as Sherry and Denise share their principles of decorating a table—how to work with and embellish the fundamentals with flare—so you have more time to focus on your menu.

Maria McCool will moderate the demonstration. Although not a designer, she has always wanted to play one on TV!

“Grapes to Glamour. With Lydia Mondavi”
Join beauty and wine maven Lydia Mondavi as she hosts a unique seminar to guide you through how she utilizes every aspect of grapes from her family’s vineyard for her remarkable wines and luxury 29 Cosmetics makeup and skincare line. Offering a discerning lesson in wine tasting, Lydia will explain how to identify the characteristics of each wine, including taste, aroma and expressions. The seminar will allow guests to compare the sensory experience of fresh herbs, botanicals, fruits and spices against the wines. Lydia will also break down the process of extracting the intense anti-oxidant properties of the grape seeds and skins to create a remarkable and age-protecting cosmetic color and skincare line. This unique experience was created by Lydia Mondavi exclusively for the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle Christmas House.

For students of all ages. Olivia Aston holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Theatre and Performance Studies from Kennesaw State University. Her favorite projects in Atlanta include The Alliance Theatre Collision Project, Selma Stories with playwright Margaret Baldwin, and Great Expectations at Georgia Ensemble Theatre. This summer she served as the Assistant Producer of Summer Drama Day Camps and had a blast! Her next project is with the Alliance Theatre working as the Production Coordinator for Theatre for the VERY Young.

Join pastry chef Pamela Moxley from Tom Colicchio’s Craft Atlanta and Craftbar for a seminar on holiday cookies! Pamela Moxley brings 17 years of experience from New England, the West Coast and the South to and fuses creativity and precision to design desserts full of the unique local flavors. Her impressive Atlanta tenure has included experience at Murphy’s, Floataway Café and Bacchanalia, and she will share tips and recipes on creating the perfect holiday cookies this season!

“Journey Back to the Old South with Four Roses Brand Ambassador Al Young”
Let the smoky sweet flavor of Bourbon take you on a journey back to the old south with Four Roses Brand Ambassador Al Young. In the Bourbon making business for over 40 years, Al has written the book (literally) on Four Roses. Hear about Atlanta’s connection to Four Roses and the romantic legend behind the name. Stay for a demonstration of making holiday eggnog using the Four Roses prize winning recipe that dates back to 1937. Following the seminar, Al will be signing copies of his new coffee table book “Four Roses - The Return of a Whiskey Legend.” Must be at least 21 years of age to attend

"The kitchen is truly the heart of the home; it is the room in which our lives most unfold. The kitchen is unlike any other room in the house as it serves multiple functions within one space, and it requires a very thoughtful and detailed design". Cynthia Ziegler, c.k.d.

Join kitchen designer Cynthia Ziegler, of Cynthia Ziegler, Inc., and design blogger Holly Street, author of Things That Inspire, as they share the details of the design process for the kitchen in Holly's new house. In this case study for current kitchen design, Cynthia and Holly will discuss the way in which Holly's requirements for function were combined with the desire to make an aesthetic statement in what Holly considers to be the most important room in the house. The resulting kitchen design is truly a personal reflection of Holly's style, and a testament to the importance of a skilled kitchen designer in making her dream a reality.  The presentation will include design sketches, concepts, and work in process pictures of the kitchen that is being built right now.

Cynthia will also discuss current kitchen trends and design considerations for those who are considering their own kitchen renovation or build.

Located in a free-standing building adjacent to The Mansion, Tom Colicchio’s Craft Atlanta and Craftbar offer an array of dining experience ideal to begin or complete the Christmas House experience. Craftbar offers casual lunch Monday through Friday, comforting brunch items Saturday and Sunday and nightly dinner service, as well as a 5-6-7 menu of $6 bites and cocktails available between 5 and 7 p.m. Upstairs, the family-style Craft Atlanta offers a seasonally changing, three-course Market Menu for $45 a person in addition to its regularly dinner menu available nightly, ideal for an intimate dinner after enjoying the Christmas House.
