Strolling along Canton Street in downtown Roswell, you can dip into any of the small neighborhood restaurants for fine dining or grab a quick casual meal. The downtown area is centered with rows of shops and then expands to fill restored homes and buildings throughout the area. Boutiques and shops mingle between the restaurants and cafes throughout downtown along with small art galleries and specialty shops. The town of Roswell was built around the old cotton mill, which was destroyed by Union troops during the Civil War, but was later rebuilt as the Roswell Mill. Today it is an area just north of the city that is one of the most popular suburban communities. Beyond historical downtown Roswell, refurbished historic homes as well as residential neighborhoods abound. Two-story brick homes to million-dollar mansions fill the area to satisfy any price range. The Roswell Cultural Arts Center features Orchestra Atlanta and the Georgia Ensemble Theater, and plenty of outdoor entertainment can be enjoyed at outdoor concerts in the summer and other events at the many parks and recreation centers along the Chattahoochee River.
