Norwood Architects is a full service, design oriented architectural firm in Smyrna, Georgia. We offer architectural design, master planning and construction administration. In conjunction with our partner companies, The Norwood Group and Norwood Interiors, we also provide construction services and interior design. Since inception Norwood Architects has been committed to providing exemplary service to our clients and has established a reputation for excellence in design. Our homes and projects can be found throughout the Atlanta area and beyond.

We have no problem assuming a project from another designer and taking it to completion if a client so desires.
We provide guidance to our clients but understand the client is the final determiner of a design.

Our Process

We begin each commission with an in-depth client meeting to discuss the client’s needs and goals.
We develop a written program that fully outlines the requirements gleaned from our meeting and other information.
We visit the building site to familiarize ourselves with topography, sun orientation, vegetation and a wide array of factors. In the case of existing structures we thoroughly document existing conditions. A thorough site analysis is conducted.
Several initial sketched schematic design options are produced. These are presented to the client for discussion. A joint determination is made as to which option best meets the clients needs.
The chosen option is developed into more detailed sketches that include plans, elevations and perspectives and, once again, are presented to the client.
After the client has approved an option we produce a thorough set of construction documents that include plans, elevations, details and specifications and any other documents a builder will need .
We usually assist our clients with the selection of contractor through prequalification and interviews.
At our client’s request we will provide construction administration services to ensure that construction quality is maintained and that the resulting end product realizes the client’s vision.

Our philosophy is that a home is the sum of its parts and we are ever mindful of the integration of architecture, landscape and interiors. We pay particular attention to fitting a home to its site in a way that makes sense and compliments both.
