Louvre Atlanta

What a blockbuster cultural season we're going to have in Atlanta! A friend called from New York yesterday particularly curious about Louvre Atlanta. That's the five-year partnership between the High Museum of Art and the Musee du Louvre in Paris that wil bring hundreds of works of art from the Louvre's collections to Atlanta. It all kicks off with "The Royal Collections" (October 2006 - September 2007). The royal collections today make up the heart of the Louvre's outstanding holdings. The Year One exhibitions include paintings, sculptures, antiquities, drawings, and decorative arts from the collections of the Kings of France. Yours truly will be in Paris in mid-October, so I can't wait—and it appears that the opening week activities are sure to thrill!
