Long-time design enthusiast Barbara Heath waited more than a decade to fulfill her dream of opening The Mercantile, a fashionable, upscale spot created to bring gifts, furnishings, accessories and art—many of which weren't previously available locally—to Atlanta's trade and retail communities. The Brookhaven design boutique, which opened its doors mid-September, overflows with styles to suit every taste. “I wanted a store that would appeal to everyone who stops in,” she says, “whether they like traditional, modern or something in between.” Among the long list of her intriguing lines are George Smith furniture, botanical-themed chandeliers from emerging glass artisan Elizabeth Lyons, concrete-and-iron accent tables from Bradley-Hughes and hand-colored Trowbridge prints and fine art photography straight from the world-renowned London gallery.
