Connoisseur's Choice - Sia Moshk

August 2007

The philosophy behind your wine list: Creating harmony between wine selection and the cuisine has been our main philosophy. It will always be our goal to offer great selections, variety and value.

The biggest trend in 2006: We saw a great deal of shifting in consumption due to the better value and selections from Australia, South Africa, Chili, Spain and Italy, which also caused decline in demand for French wines.

Wines I’m drinking now: I am always looking for new wines. I try to taste different wines from different parts of the world. Recently I am enjoying more Pinot Noir, Merlot and Shiraz, maybe my age has a lot do with it.

Favorite wine word (descriptive): Value, value and more value. We hear that word a lot among most consumers.

The quintessential pairing: There are so many that come to mind, With Cranberry Glazed Grilled Lamb Chops, I would recommend Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa. Pan Seared Sea Bass with Corton Charlemagne, Grand Cru.

The bottle I can’t wait to uncork in 2007: A 1982 Dom Perignon. I hope it is still good. This is the year we moved to Atlanta from New York City and we will drink it to celebrate our twenty fifth year in Atlanta.

Next new thing in wine: French wines are slowly losing popularity and being challenged by other wine producing countries. Increase in consumption of other imported wines, and consumer desire for new wines with greater values. We may witness a gradual transformation in the wine industry for years to come.
