Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life

Text: By Kelly K.

Last Friday I went to the High Museum's preview of the Annie Leibovitz show, A Photographer's Life: 1990-2005.
The tour of the exhibition was led by Leibovitz herself (which was a
pleasant surprise!), and let me tell you, she's incredible! On top of
that, the way she chose to display her photographs makes for an amazing
experience. She explained that her landscape images are blown out so
you can experience them the way you would if you were there, the
celebrity photos are also large scale, though not as intense as the
landscapes -- but it's her personal photos that grab you. She explained
that they're much smaller so you are forced to get close to them and really view
them personally, and that struck me as such an interesting way to
think...the show is fantastic. A must see!
