This Cobb County neighborhood northwest of Buckhead has gone through a variety of name changes, beginning with Crossroads, then Paces, and finally Vinings. The heart of Vinings can be found in the Vinings Jubilee shopping district that was dedicated in 1986 after 15 years of planning by Atlanta developer and Vinings resident Felix Cochran. Boutiques, shops and restaurants fill renovated Victorian-style homes, lanterns line the streets and a large clock tower is the main attraction of the town center that captures Vinings’ history. The neighborhood is also home to the corporate headquarters of Home Depot and The Weather Channel, bringing big business and patronage to the area. New developments have added office buildings, large hotels and gated cluster communities to the neighborhood’s existing homes on wooded lots. Whatever their pleasure, residents can easily head into Buckhead for a chic night out, hop over to the Chattahoochee River for rafting, fishing or picnicking, or go biking along the Silver Comet Trail.
