Just north of downtown, Ansley Park continues to fulfill its purpose as a gracious and historic community with a cherished heritage. Created by real estate developer Edwin P. Ansley in 1904 as a “motorcar oriented suburb,” Ansley Park remains a harmonious neighborhood thanks to the Ansley Park Civic Association, which was created in the 1960s. Though it rests in the shadow of Midtown’s high-rises, it’s hard to believe you’re in the heart of the city while driving through the neighborhood streets. Grand historic homes with spacious green lawns are kept to perfection, and renovations never seem to cease as older homes are brought up to date.

The entire neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and it’s obvious the dwellers of this community take great pride in the place they call home. Ansley Park is still one of the premier ZIP codes in Atlanta. The array of homes in the neighborhood spans eclectic to contemporary, with a mixture of Mediterranean-style villas, bungalows, modern homes and historic mansions lining the streets. No house is more than a 10-minute walk from the main parks in the area—Winn or McClatchy Park, and golfers are a short distance from the Ansley Golf Course. A landmark of the neighborhood, the historic neo-Classical First Church of Christ Scientist, built in 1913, sits on the corner of Peachtree and Fifteenth streets.
